One of our longtime columnists calls it quits

Aaryn Belfer

Aaryn Belfer's biweekly "Backwards & in High Heels" column first appeared in CityBeat's Jan. 24, 2007. Her last column for us appears in this issue. That's nearly 150 columns over just short of six years and a lot of hard work. Alas, Aaryn's decided that her CityBeat column has reached the end of its path.

We asked Aaryn to join our team on the strength of the blog she'd been writing—it was clear she was a talented scribe. Yet, she's never been satisfied and has continued to work on the craft. The result, I believe, is a polished columnist, technically excellent with a distinct writer's voice. Aaryn's opinions—be they about race, education, politics or parenting (sometimes all rolled into one column)—are emotional, in-your-face, unapologetic and often delivered with sharp humor, which pretty much describes the woman herself.

We appreciate her long tenure and wish her the best in her career as a wordsmith. You can follow her adventures at aarynbelfer.com.
