Thanksgiving can be a huge headache. As much as I love mashed potatoes and stuffing, the deliciousness is often spoiled by wine-fueled bitching among my sisters. Dealing with family around the holidays can be the worst, so I'm thankful that so many bars in town offer pre- and post- Thanksgiving nights catered to help you drown out your father complaining about how much you've disappointed him.

The great thing about the holiday is that friends who live far away come back to town. Get a group together on Wednesday, Nov. 21, and head to Voyeur (755 Fifth Ave., Downtown) for Get Stuffed. The night features performances by Low Volts and Keith Sweaty, as well as art by Carrie Ann Hudson, Jason Acton and more. There'll also be DJ sets by Mike Delgado, Arkon and others. A can of food gets you free entry into the party. Drink up and have fun. Tons of turkey and dinner rolls will take care of the hangover.

If you need to escape the family for an hour or two for an emergency drink on Thanksgiving Day, The Office (3936 30th St. in North Park) will hold Spanks Giving, hosted by Outlife. DJs Ian Kasnoff Saul Q and Qenoe will provide the dance music while the bar brings a $5 beer-and-a-shot special all night long. It's just like the Native Americans and the Pilgrims coming together for that first Thanksgiving, only with booze.

When Saturday comes around, you'll once again be thankful for family and friends. Celebrate surviving another Thanksgiving with your loved ones at Whistle Stop Bar's Post-Turkey Day Happy Hour with DJ Claire and DJ Mazee (The Casbah's Tim Mays).

They'll spin some smooth jams starting at 5 p.m. If you get your second wind, stick around for Booty Bassment and shake your butt till you sweat off that pumpkin pie.
