A mandolin provides soulful depth to this MTS performance

From the first strums of The Drowning Men frontman Nato Bardeen's mandolin, we were hooked: Not since R.E.M.'s "Losing my Religion" have we heard that instrument used so effectively. It's our inclination to disregard it as a jokey Renaissance staple, but when you throw that sucker into a minor key, it becomes heart-wrenching.

In this episode of A Trolley Show, Oceanside's The Drowning Men serenade MTS riders with a forlorn rendition of their song "A Fools Campaign," off their album All of the Unknown. Be sure not to miss their show with Wild Wild Wets at the Soda Bar on Saturday, April 27.
