Gayle Skidmore can play over 20 instruments which, by our count, qualifies her as some sort of musical McGyver. What's more impressive is that she uses her talents to compliment her music rather than drowning it in over-indulgence. A mark of a true artist is the ability to show restraint.

On this episode of A Trolley Show, Skidmore classes up the the MTS with her song "Nightingale". We were instantly enamoured with her mountain dulcimer (yeah, we had to look that up), but the cello and violin give the song its emotional grounding. Watch as these lucky MTS patrons get a taste of the symphony without having to rent a tux.

Gayle Skidmore plays with Lisa Loeb on Sunday, June 2 at the Casbah.
