Australians perform 'Hands' on the MTS

Alpinetrolley

Anyone who's listened to the record label Italians Do It Better's seminal compilation album After Dark will appreciate Alpine: These Australians specialize in the same dreamy, minimalist disco that bands like Glass Candy and Mirage perform—although the two singers—Phoebe Baker and Lou James—infuse more joy and exuberance than the genre usually allows.

In this episode of A Trolley Show, Alpine perform "Hands" off their album A is for Alpine. The already-quiet song is further stripped of its texture, allowing the two voices to soar. It's rare that a dance band would translate acoustically, but Alpine pull off a striking, intimate performance.
