I pride myself of being a lady of various tastes and interests. Variety never hurt anyone, I say. In the spirit of keeping it random and fun, here are three nocturnal happenings that sound like a good time.

Dance your ass off to a disco jammer that references Kurt Cobain's suicide when Portland's electropop dance-punk duo Yacht hit the Hard Rock Hotel's 207 Nightclub (207 Fifth Ave., Downtown) on Thursday, Oct. 17. The band will perform as part of the hotel's Third Thursdays live-music series, which brings touring bands to the small venue. I avoid Downtown as much as I avoid the gym, but, every so often, the series has some great acts. I saw Built to Spill there last year and serendipitously ended up eating a barbecued-chicken pizza while watching them do their sound check. DJs Adam Salter and Gabe Vega will keep the party vibe going throughout the night. Tickets are only $10 and can be bought at 207sd.electrostub.com.

Beyoncé is a great entertainer. No doubt about that. But, in my opinion, she lacks the glamour and wit only a drag queen can bring to the stage. Local drag queens will be showing Bey how it's done while supporting a good cause at Glamfest, happening Sunday, Oct. 20, at Lips Restaurant (3036 El Cajon Blvd. in North Park). The drag-cabaret joint will welcome 14 performers to the stage and raise funds for Camp I Can, a summer camp for autistic kids and teens. The $40 ticket ($60 for VIP seats) comes with a three-course meal and probably a few tuck jokes. Showtime is 8:15 p.m. Don't be late, unless you want to be berated by a dude wearing more makeup than Tammy Faye Baker.

You know what's awesome? Cheap tacos. You know what else is awesome? Karaoke. You can get both of those radical things, plus $2 draft beers, on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at U-31 Cocktail Lounge (3112 University Ave. in North Park). Seriously, nothing can propel a soulful rendition of "Purple Rain" like carne asada and four beers. Believe me. I've done it.
