Weatherbox member performs 'Anchors Away' on the MTS

Before emo became relegated to a fashion statement in the late 2000s, Doghouse Records was putting out stuff by raw-yet-accessible acts like Hot Water Music and The Get-Up Kids. Doghouse became a trusted brand with a reliable sound for kids who were looking for an emotional-punk outlet, which made it a perfect fit for San Diego emo stalwarts Weatherbox.

In this episode of A Trolley Show, singer Brian Warren performs Anchors Away, a slow-builder that speaks of heartbreak, betrayal and catharsis—typical subject matter for the genre, but no less touching. Its interesting to watch the passengers in the peripherals, who remain rapt, but at a distance—as if Warrens hurt could somehow be contagious.
