The last time we had American Authors on this show, they performed "Best Day of My Life," which has since gone on to soundtrack the general emotion of happiness. It's hard to turn on the TV without hearing it—even Lowe's and Hyundai have used it in their marketing campaigns (which doesn't entirely temper the murderous rage felt when driving or conducting home repairs, but it's a noble effort).

In this episode of A Trolley Show, the Brooklyn band performs "Believer," a similarly uplifting song with the refrain "I'm just a believer that things will get better." As easy as it would be to discount this kind of stuff as naive, there's something refreshing in the earnestness. Hell, if they can convince a bunch of tired commuters to sing along, maybe things aren't as bad as we think.
