Seemingly without handlers or entourage, mayoral candidate Bob Filner turned up at an Americans for Safe Access rally in Ocean Beach on Monday, grabbed the bullhorn and pledged his support for medical-marijuana patients amid statewide and citywide crackdowns on dispensaries.

Filner, a Democratic member of Congress, said he was working on the issue on two fronts. First, he's a co-sponsor of H.R. 1983, the "States' Medical Marijuana Patient Act," which would remove marijuana from the list of federally prohibited Schedule 1 drugs and provide for immunity for medical-marijuana patients in states where it's legal. On the city level, Filner says that as mayor, he will pass regulations to allow patients access to marijuana (though he was extremely short on specifics).

But Filner wasn't the only mayoral candidate at the debate. Steven Greenwald, best known as the owner of a building on Park Boulevard where multiple dispensaries were operating until the City Attorney's office took him to court, also took the bullhorn, even though he was not formally listed as a speaker on the announcement sent out to media. Greenwald went a step further, calling for full legalization of marijuana.

Here are the videos of the speeches. Compare, contrast, critique and let us know which candidate you think deserves the medical-marijuana community's votes. ---
