On Thursday, April 5, Sea Rocket Bistro's serving up a $30, three-course prix-fixe vegetarian menu to help raise money for San Diego City College's Urban Agriculture Program. The meal will feature produce grown at Seeds at City Urban Farm. Check out the whole menu here; we're especially smitten with the Cape gooseberry bread pudding with candied fennel and gooseberry compote. Ten dollars of ever meal sold will go to support the farm. Add on a beer flight for $10 or a wine flight for $15. ---
Alchemy in South Park has started up a new weekly event called BYOV (Bring Your Own Vinyl). As the name implies, you're encouraged to bring in records from your personal collection to be played while you dine. No word yet on whether certain tunes will get you banned from the place. We like Alchemy, so be nice-no Celine Dion.
Also in the odd-but-interesting category is the U.S. Grant's "Titanic Tea Experience." We'll let 'em describe it: "Embark upon first-class luxury aboard The U.S. Grant Titanic Tea experience. An honorary champagne toast and saber ceremony commences the Centennial affair, while a strolling violinist enriches the ambiance of eras past. Sip loose leaf teas and savor an assortment of treats specially created by Executive Chef Mark Kropczynski, and inspired by menus served aboard the legendary Titanic cruise liner." Teas take place on three Saturdays: April 7 and 14 and May 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $47 for adults and $22 for kids. Life vests not included.
