When Carl DeMaio lost the mayor's race in November, folks speculated that he'd challenge Scott Peters for the 52nd congressional seat. After DeMaio's February op-ed in the Wall Street Journal urging Congress to get involved in pension reform and a May 1 Roll Call article about a GOP-commissioned poll that put DeMaio ahead of Peters, it was no longer a question of if he'd run, but when he'd announce. Step One: Make-over the ol' website. The "Issues" pull-down on carldemaio.com now includes matters more appropriate for a Congressional candidate. Oh, and the website's list of upcoming events includes a campaign kick-off on June 26-and fundraisers scheduled through August. So, there ya go. Whether the Roadmap to Recovery goes national remains to be seen.
