Curtain call

It’s always great to see the luscious Amy Biedel, especially when she trots out that drop-dead gorgeous singing voice of hers. With North Coast Repertory Theatre’s current Talley’s Folly, we don’t have that pleasure—and in a roundabout way, maybe that’s the problem here. Matt Friedman (David Ellenstein) and Sally Talley (Biedel) play a befuddled Missouri couple trying to make sense of things amid their secret longings. Ellenstein and Biedel are pretty good together, but playwright Lanford Wilson gives Matt way too obsequious an edge. I’m gonna recommend this, but I didn’t, like, fill my shorts over it or anything.
