Alison Saar is wrapping up her residency at Lux Art Institute this week, but her well-crafted, narrative work will be on view in the Lux gallery through March 16. I got to watch Saar work on one of her wooden sculptures and shot this quick video so you can watch, too. And yes, the artist confidently wields a chainsaw, which allows her to work quickly, but not very quietly.
"I don't think they're going to miss these sounds at Lux," said Saar, picking up her little red chainsaw and cutting into the belly of her newest sculpture, which, if it's not already completed, will be completed by the end of the week.
