Saturday, Jan. 14, marks the beginning of what could be a new gallery walk on Girard Avenue in La Jolla. Joseph Bellows Gallery, R.B. Stevenson Gallery, Quint Contemporary Art and Scott White Contemporary Art have agreed to hold openings for new shows that night and, if people show up and things go well, it could become a habit.
“We think people will enjoy it,” said Ron Stevenson, owner of R.B. Stevenson Gallery, which will open a show featuring new paintings by Peter Halasz. “They can park in one spot and walk, instead of the horror of parking and having to move your car and try to find another spot in La Jolla…. We'll probably see how this goes and discuss things after Saturday. I already have a partial schedule, though— March 3 is the next one.”---
Last year, Quint Contemporary Art (7547 Girard Ave.) moved locations and is now much closer to the building at 7661 Girard Ave. that houses R.B. Stevenson and Joseph Bellows. Scott White, too, recently moved from Little Italy to a location nearby at 7655 Girard Ave.---
Also on Saturday, just a few blocks away, Thumbprint Gallery (920 Kline St., Suite 104), which moved from North Park to La Jolla last year, will open a group show featuring new works by Mike Maxwell, Kelly Vivanco, Gloria Muriel and others, and Alexander Salazar will celebrate the grand opening of his new temporary gallery space, Salazar Contemporary Art Exhibits (1162 Prospect St.), with a show featuring paintings by Erik Skoldberg and sculptures by Kevin Barrett.
