Kitchen 4140's been one of San Diego's under-the-radar cool new eateries. Open just over a year and located in an unlikely spot (4140 Morena Blvd. in the Clairemont / Bay Ho area), the vibe is hip, modern farmhouse and the menu's a greatest-hits of comfort-food faves with a twist: Sunday brunch includes Atlantic smoked-salmon Benedict with a lemon-dill Hollandaise sauce, vanilla-buttermilk waffles with almond butter and tart cherry syrup and a sandwich called the "Kitchen Beast"-applewood-smoked bacon, egg, avocado creme fraiche, spinach and heirloom tomatoes between focaccia bread. Kitchen 4140's open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find out more about it here.
