Saturday, Oct. 1, is the South Park Walkabout and Audrey Hermes from Frost Me—who makes her cupcakes in the kitchen of the Big Kitchen—will be serving pumpkin cupcakes outside the Big Kitchen (3003 Grape St.). CityBeat had a table next to Frost Me at an event a couple months back and the cupcakes are delish. ---
On the sweets tip, it's Chuao Chocolatier's ninth anniversary this weekend. To celebrate, they're giving away one free scoop of gelato to anyone who shows up at one of their three locations from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. I'd like to thank the Chuao folks for sending over samples of their new potato-chip chocolate bar. Except my co-workers plowed through the two bars before I got a taste. Genius combo.
Hat tip to Sara Morrison (@karmiclife) who, in honor of Veg Week, tweeted a link to Barnivore—"your vegan beer, wine and liquor guide." Even if you don't care that a little egg white is used as a "fining agent" in your red wine, the site's an interesting look at what goes into producing booze. Veg Week, by the way, wraps up Sunday, Oct. 2, with a party at Queen Bee's.
Am I the last person to find out that Sea Rocket started serving brunch? The menu looks fantastic.
Juan Chou's in South Park is now open (located where El Camino used to be).
And, thanks to @sdurban for tweeting about The Foundry ("new craft beer bar / pizza joint"). Cool sign, but it's so dark inside, it's nearly impossible to tell what it is. The website, though, still goes to Rosario's, the space's former occupant.nnnnnnnn
