When you cram representatives from the right, the left, the in-between, the far right, the far left, the off-charts, the Swiss-like neutral, the objective press, the not-so-objective press and every other ten-for-a-penny pundit into one bar to toast discourse and a mutual love of politics—well, that's a beautiful thing.
For the third time, CityBeat is co-hosting "A Socialist, a Fascist and a Reporter Walk into a Bar," a happy hour for anyone who loves to talk local politics and build friendships with folks on the other side of the fence. The other sponsors come from the conservative blog SDRostra.com and the progressive opinion site twocathedrals.com, though we also get visitors from the lefties at OBrag.org, the local Labor Council, political-consultant types and spokespeeps from the Mayor's office and San Diego City Council.
It's like Ice-T said, "Don't hate the playa', hate the game," except that we actually, really like the game.
The first event was at the Red Fox Room, the second at El Take It Easy. This time we're moving from North Park to downtown: Proper Gastropub (795 J St.).
The event starts at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6. Visit the official Facebook page for more info and to RSVP (not necessary but it helps).
