It's easy to compare JJAMZ's performance of their song "Suicide Pact" to Sofia Coppola's directorial debut, The Virgin Suicides. Besides the obvious title similarities, both conjure images of innocence and beauty, contrasted with darkness lurking underneath. In JJAMZ's case, a pop song about a broken suicide pact (and the resulting loneliness of the dead) is striking.
In this episode of a A Trolley Show, JJAMZ—which features members of Maroon 5, The Like and Phantom Planet—performs for a group of MTS commuters. Even though the subject is grim, the sun washes everything in cinematic light, creating a contrast that Coppola could only dream of recreating.
