Scapegoat Wax (aka Marty James) hails from the collegiate podunk known as Chico, Calif., which is known more for dope than dope MCs. He wrote his first tune at age 13, and by 16 was lab coat-deep in turntable tricknology. Beastie Boy Mike D. discovered the small town emcee, and Scapegoat Wax's diverse portfolio-a guitarist/vocalist/MC that mixes pop, hip-hop, folk, soul and funk-made him a perfect fit for Mike D's scatter-brained label, Grand Royale. 2001's Okeeblow almost got lost in the mix, as the label closed its doors. But by that time, “Aisle 10 (Hey, Allison)” had MTV2 approval and local radio station 92/1 had broken his good news locally. He's the Top 40 Everlast for the midnight vultures of cut and paste.
