One year ago, Eric Howarth and his partner/gal pal Heather Johnson moved to San Diego to open a small record store in South Park. It was named after his already existing indie record label, M-Theory Records. Though their hip cache was already substantial (they had released albums by the likes of Creeper Lagoon and Alien Crime Syndicate), it was their weekly acoustic showcases and downright cool-ass record store that made them an essential local music hub. The first anniversary of the store is this weekend, and they're celebrating with the debut performance by Howarth's own band, Caution Children, along with DJs DB (Dave Brown of Holiday Matinee), the Snodgrass and 92.1FM's Scott Riggs. M-Theory's Anniversary Party will be held at the Whistlestop Café on Dec. 14. For more info, call M-Theory Records at 619-269-2963.
