As our music editor, Jeff Terich, can tell you, I'm an unapologetic fan of pop-punk. It's not something I'm particularly proud of—and I've tried to deny it during certain periods of my life—but I've come to terms with it. There's just something so comforting about the clean, Hot Topic sound that gets me nostalgic for the days when I was 16 and blasting it out the windows of my turquoise Mercury Tracer.
In this episode of A Trolley Show, San Diego emo pop-punks The Plastic Revolution perform "Since You Left," a song that satisfies my angsty hunger. Whenever a punk strips down and goes acoustic, there will undoubtedly be Dashboard Confessional comparisons, but the emotion in this song is undeniable. Guilty pleasure? Sure. But I'd also argue that it's more potent than most of the innocuous indie rock produced these days.
