Industrial had its heyday-that brief moment in the '80s when Blade Runner had set up the cyberpunk template and it was found that machines really could make things more menacing. Nine Inch Nails is the genre's Elvis, the torchbearer that took it to the masses. Pigface is the Travelling Wilburys of the bunch, a supergroup collaboration of the top industrial machine-men and women. The rotation is built around producer/drummer Martin Atkins (Killing Joke, NIN), and the lineup is more mercurial than Queens of the Stone Age. Through its ranks has passed people like Steve Albini, Jello Biafra, Flea, Chris Connelly, Trent Reznor, Shonen Knife and John Lydon. For their current United II Tour, Atkins is paired with people like Jared Louche (Chemlab), Geunter Schultz (Slick Idiot, ex-KMFDM) and Charles Levy of the Thrill Kill Cult. You can bet on some menacing synth riffs, some music concrete and androidal punk spirit. "The United II Tour" with Pigface, Dope, Professional Murder Music and Rachel Stamp will be at Brick by Brick, 8 p.m. on Dec. 4. $16. 619-275-5483.
