It's cooler, it's quieter and the summer crowds are waning (if they didn't plain bug out during the wildfires). Fall is an underrated time for appreciating the woefully temperate weather of our fair coastal hamlets and inlets. Usually known for its Spring Break mentality and overpriced condos, the bay bordering Pacific and Mission Beaches usually gets a bum rap from the rest of San Diego's self-styled hipsters, and sometimes deservedly so. Admittedly, the area is hardly Greenwich Village west. But at this time of year, it's charming as all get out on the strand around Mission Bay, with gorgeous sunsets (given an incredibly Armageddon-red hue lately from said wildfires) and long, romantic walk-ablity to spare. So keep your artistic cred while contemplating the above, or not, with a walking and writing workshop with Jan and Jo'el this weekend, who advise reservations-and to, "bring a jacket, cause it's chilly." Isn't that sweet? Fee is $7.
