There's little left to do but click "play" on this local band's YouTube cache. Do it and you'll see the foursome rip through a simple punk-rock mishmash that will blow steam out of your ears. The Widows aren't complex or clever. They appeal to that warm part in your gut that wants to dance and strum and do sexy things.
"Don't Hang Around Here" taps up and down on the guitar, making room for unfussy vocals. The buzz of "Road Rage" recalls dingy bars and foamy keg beer. Along that line, the band's influences are listed as "greasy food, warm beer, loose women and ceramics," which sounds about right. Not too tongue-in-cheek, but they've got a sense of humor. All of this is utterly enjoyable-the kind of band you'd invite to play a summer's night party for your hard-drinking friends who don't have crappy taste in music.
